Description: | Mycelium limited; principal hyphae slender, moderately branched, 45-75 μ in diameter at base . Gemmae abundant; spherical, pyriform, obovate,or irregular; terminal or intercalary ; single or catenulate. Zoosporangia abundant ; filiform or clavate; 82-820 μ long by 16-36 μ in diameter, renewed sympodially. Zoospore discharge achlyoid; encysted spores 10- 12 μ in diameter. Oogonia sparse; lateral, rarely terminal and intercalary; spherical or pyriform; 110-150μ in diameter. Oogonial wall pitted; smooth. Oogonial stalks usually 4-6 times the diameter of the oogonium in length; stout; slender; straight or curved; Antheridial branches usually diclinous, occasionally monoclinous; Antheridial cells tubular, clavate or irregular ; attached by projection or laterally appressed. Oospheres rarely maturing. Oospores eccentric; spherical, or ellipsoidal not filling the oogonium;1-22in number, usually6-12; 20-40 μ in diameter, predominantly 29-34 μ. | |||
