Description: | Basidiocarp resupinate, effuse, adnate, subceraceous, 70-250 μm thick in section. Hymenial surface light orange, smooth, occasionally cracked; margin thinning, arachnoid or pruinose, concolorous or paler. Hyphal system monomitic; hyphae nodose-septate. Subiculum fairly uniform, composed of medullary layer, with somewhat loose or dense texture; hyphae colorless, irregularly oriented, 2.5-5 μm diam., slightly thick-walled. Hymenial layer differentiated from subiculum, thickening, with compact texture; hyphae colorless, mainly vertical. Gloeocystidia numerous, yellowish, tubular, slightly flexuous, 50-150 × 6-11 μm, with 0.5-1 μm thick walls, SA+. Basidia clavate, usually tapering to a stalked base, 40-60 × 6.5-8 μm, 4-sterigmate. Basidiospores ellipsoid, adaxially slightly concave, smooth, thin-walled, with fairly homogeneous contents or with small oil-drops, 6-9 × 4-5.5 μm, IKI bluish black, CB–. | |||

Distribution: | European countries (Eriksson and Ryvarden 1975), China (Bi et al. 1993), Japan (Maekawa 1993), Taiwan. Ginns & Freeman (1994) found the specimens of this species from numerous reports in North America, are actually Megalocystidium leucoxanthum and M. montanum. |
