 Description: In 1/4YpSs slush: Sparongium small, spherical, 10-20 μm diam., delicate branched rhizoidal system usually arising from the tip of a knob- or peglike structure, sometimes inflated, on the base of sporangium. Zoospores spherical, 2-2.5 μm diam., with a small refractive globule, emerging upon the deliquescence of 2-3 discharge pores.On 1/4YpSs agar: Color of colony was off-white.

 Note: The variable types of rhizoidal main axis is the main character. The similar appearing fungus identified by Karling as Rhizophydium laterale, but considered as R. karlingii by Sparrow (Sparrow, 1960). Our isolate differs from R. laterale by the color of colony, the latter is distinctly yellow (Chen and Chien, 1995).len from water.
