Description: Basidiocarp effuse, adnate, loose-membranaceous, soft, 60-110 μm thick in section. Hymenial surface cream, smooth, not cracked; margin concolorous or paler, thinning out, arachnoid-pruinose. Hyphal system monomitic; hyphae with clamp connections. Subiculum uniform, composed of medullary layer, usually with fairly loose texture; hyphae colorless, slightly thick-walled, moderately ramified, somewhat interwoven, 2-4 μm diam. Subhymenium not clearly differentiated. Septocystidia numerous, projecting, colorless, thin-walled, with several clamped septa, apices obtuse, somewhat capitate, apically covered by resinous materials, 60-73 × 5.9-7 μm. Basidia subclavate with a median constriction, clamped at base, 4-sterigmate, 20-23 × 5-6 μm. Basidiospores broadly ellipsoid, smooth, thin-walled, usually with one oily drop, IKI–, CB–, (5.2-) 5.9-7.5 (-8) × 4-5 (5.4) μm.

Note: Hyphodonita subpallidula is similar to H. pallidula (Bres.) J. Erikss. Both species share a smooth hymenial surface and septocystidia, but the latter has distinctly smaller spores (3.5-4.5 × 2-2.5 μm, Eriksson and Ryvarden 1976).
