Description: Ascomata scattered, superficial, subglobose or slightly conical in appearance, 300-360 μm wide, 240-260 μm high, with the base remains immersed, and usually flattened, broad and 4-6 μm wide, dark brown, hyphae emerging from the base of the ascoma and interwoven within the host ctissue, apex non-papillate, pallid in colour. Peridium laterally 30-40 μm thick, composed of 5-6 layers of polygonal cells, the inner cell layers, hyaline, the outmost 1-2 cell layers deeply pigmented, the cells around the ostiole sclerotial-like with small lumina, peridium at base usually redused, of 1-2 layers of cells. Pseudoparaphyses branched, 2-3 μm thick. Asci clavate to saccate, 110-140 × 20-24 μm, short-stalked, up to 20 μm long, 8-spored. Ascospores, ellipsoid, 24-28 × 9-11 μm, rounded or slightly pointed at the end, 1-septate, the septum submedia and slightly constricted, upper cell longer and broader, brown, smooth but visible as verrucose at high magnification, biseriate in the middle of ascus and appearing uniseriate towards two ends.
