 Description: On PDA, growth is rapid, with dense white aerial mycelium and orange sporodochia developing as the culture ages. Colonies reach 4.8 cm diameter for 4 days at 24℃. From below the cultures are orange to tan in color. Microconidia are absent. Macroconidia produced from unbranched monophialides are sickle-shaped, delicate, thin-walled, mostly 3-5 septate, 20.0-52.2 × 2.8-5.0 μm. Chlamydospores are absent.

 Habitat: on the caryopsis type of grasses, such as Cynodon dactylon (as well as on the ergots), Elymus arenarius, Panicum maximum, Secale, and Zea, on kernels, culms, corn stalks.
