Description: | Colonies growing fast on Potato Dextrose Agar at 25℃, floccose, effuse, white to yellow, reverse white to slightly yellow. Mycelium mostly superficial, composed of branched, thin-walled, smooth, sparsely septate hyaline hyphae, 4 – 16 μm wide. Sporangiophores erect, arising from aerial mycelium, smooth, non-septate or 1-septate, hyaline to light brown, producing stolons and rhizoids at the base. Sporangia hyaline to light brown, smooth. apophysate, columella distinct, bell-shaped or pyriform, 300 - 400 × 4 - 4.5 μm. Sporangiospores globose to ellipsoid, smooth, hyaline or very light green in mass, 5.5 - 9.5 × 4.2 - 6 μm. | |||

Note: | The genus Apophysomyces is characterized by the conspicuous apophysate sporangia, bearing with bell- to pyriform-shaped columella, and can be easily separated from other Zygomycetes. This is the first time the species being recorded in Taiwan. | |||
