Description: | Mycelium limited diffuse; principal hyphae slender; 20-70 μ in diameter at base . Gemmae abundant; filiform,fusiform. Zoosporangia abundant; fusiform, occasionally filiform; straight or bent near their apices. Oogonia very abundant; lateral , rarely terminal; spherical or pyriform, 40-80 μ in diameter. Oogonial wall smooth; pitted only under point of attachment of antheridial cells, rarely at other places, or unpitted; Oogonial stalks usually 1-6 times the diameter of the oogonium in length, generally1-3 times; straight, occasionally bent or curved; Antheridial branches usually diclinous, rarely monoclinous ; Antheridial cells tubular, clavate or irregular ; attached by projection. Fertilization tube not observed. Oospheres maturing. Oospores eccentric; spherical, occasionally ellipsoidal ; generally filling the oogonium;1-15 in number, usually2-8; 20-35 μ in diameter, predominantly 20-26 μ. | |||
