Description: Mycelium moderately extensive, diffuse; principal hyphae slender, branched, 35-62 μ in diameter at base. Gemmae abundant; filiform, irregular or branched ; single or catenulate, terminal or intercalary. Zoosporangia abundant ; fusiform or clavate; 420-680 μ long by 16-46 μ in diameter, renewed sympodially, occasionally cymosely or in basipetalous sucession. Zoospore discharge achlyoid, occasionally aplanoid; spore cluster persistent at exit pore; encysted spores 12 μ in diameter. Oogonia abundant; lateral , rarely terminal or intercalary; spherical, obovate or pyriform; 30-130 μ in diameter, predominantly 55-90 μ. Oogonial wall- pitted variable in frequency and size; small oogonia unpitted or pitted only under point of attachment of antheridial cells; large oogonia pitted. Oogonial stalks 0.25-4 times the diameter of the oogonium in length, usually 2times; stout; straight, occasionally curved, rarely irregularly; spherical or subglobe, laterally attached oogonia-like hyphal swellings intermingled with true oogonia; 49-235 μ in diameter; unpitted; contents not cleaving into oospheres. Antheridial branches usually present; diclinous, very rarely monoclinous ; delicate , branched, irregular. Antheridial cells tubular, irregular; attached by projection; fertilization tubes not observed. Oospheres maturing. Oospores eccentric; spherical, not filling the oogonium;1-22 in number, usually8-14; 21-25 μ in diameter, predominantly 22.5-24 μ.
