Description: Mycelium limited dense; principal hyphae slender, branched, 35-82 μ in diameter at base. Gemmae sparse or absent; when present filiform or irregular. Zoosporangia abundant ; fusiform, rarely filiform; straight or curved; 130-460 μ long by 25-50 μ in diameter, renewed sympodially, occasionally cymosely; frequently furnished with from one to several lateral discharge pores or tubes in addition to the terminal orifice. Zoospore discharge achlyoid, occasionally aplanoid; spore cluster persistent at exit pore; encysted spores 8-10 μ in diameter. Oogonia abundant; lateral , rarely terminal or intercalary; spherical, occasionally subglobose or oval, frequently or only rarely dolioform, infrequently irregular or angular, very rarely apiculate; 21-76 μ in diameter, predominantly 35-45 μ. Oogonial wall smoth; unpitted , occasionally sparsely ornamented with papillate projections. Oogonial stalks 0.2-5 times the diameter of the oogonium in length, usually 2 times; stout ; straight, occasionally curved, rarely irregularly. Antheridial branches usually lacking; when present sparse, monoclinous or diclinous, very rarely androgynous; delicate , branched, irregular. Antheridial cells tubular, irregular; laterally appressed ,rarely attached by projection; fertilization tubes not observed. Oospheres maturing. Oospores eccentric; spherical, rarely ellipsoidal, not filling the oogonium; 1-10 in number, usually1-4; 15-38 μ in diameter, predominantly 20-23 μ.
