Description: | Zoosporangia discharge thraustothecoid from primary and secondary zoosporangia. Oogonia abundant; lateral; spherical or pyriform; 30-80 μ in diameter, predominantly 40-50 μ. Oogonial wall smooth rarely papillate: pitted only under point of attachment of antheridial cells. Antheridial branches diclinous. Oospheres maturing. Oospores eccentric, spherical, usually filling the oogonium; 1-15 in number predominantly 2-5; 20-32.5 μ in diameter, predominantly 22-27 μ. | |||

Note: | A. dubia has been isolated from the garden and paddy rice soils. Our isolates are characteristic by simultaneously producing achlyoid and thraustothecoid zoosporangia in cultures. In addition, the oogonia are plerotic. | |||
