 Description: Colonies in natural habitat effuse, black. Mycelium superfical. Conidiophores macronematous, mononematous, simple or crowded, 117.0-292.5 μm long; stipe often proliferation, erect, thick-walled, smooth, pale brown or pale olivaceous brown near the apex, rather wide at the base up to 9.0-14.0 μm wide, tappering , and swollen at the apex up to 6.0-8.0 μm wide. Conidiogenous cells monoblastic; phialide in verticils of 7-9, pale brown, smooth, 10.0-17.0 × 5.0-7.0 μm. Conidia ellipsoidal or oblong rounded at the both end, or subglobose, verrucose, black, 9.5-15.0 × 6.5-10.5 μm.

 Note: This species is very common. It can be recognized by its prominent oblong, black conidia. Taiwanese specimen was isolated from rotten herbaceous stem, but it has been reported from dead stem and branches (Ellis, 1971).
