 Description: CYA, 25°C, 7 days: colony diameters larger than 75 mm, center plane, conspicuously floccose to somewhat velutinous, subcenter to margin, deeply sulcate, velutinous, fasciculate, with zonate upright synnemata, 10 mm tall, 1.5 mm wide; mycelium center orange white to greyish orange, greyish red, brownish grey or dull violet to violet (6A-B2-3, 7A-B2-5, 6D2-3E4-6), subcenter to margin, reddish to brown, violet brown, dark ruby to yellowish white-yellow (6-7C-D4-7, 6-8E-F4-8, 9-12F5-8); conidiogenesis heavy, greyish yellow to greyish green (1A-D3-5, 2B-E3-6); exudates absent; soluble pigment pastel red, red to brownish red (8A-B4-6, 9-10A-D7-8); reverse reddish brown, greyish brown, greyish ruby, dark ruby or greyish yellow (9-12D-F4-8, 13-14E-F4-8, 2-3A-B4-7). MEA, 25°C, 7 days: colony diameters 47-57 mm, plane, low, velutinous to somewhat fasciculate, in age consisting of concentric crowded, upright, synnemata, simple or branched, 30 mm tall, 1 mm wide, margin effuse; mycelium pale yellow, greyish yellow, orange yellow (3A-B3-6, 4A-B2-8); conidiogenesis heavy, pastel yellow to vivid yellow (2-3A4-8); exudate absent; soluble pigment light yellow; reverse greyish yellow, dull yellow or dark yellow (2B3-6, 3B4-8, 4B-C4-8). G25N, 25°C, 7 days: colony diameters 5-7 mm, plane, dense, slime; mycelium white to yellowish white (4A2); conidiogenesis absent; exudate and soluble pigment lacking; reverse uncolored. CYA, 5°C, 7 days: colony diameters 5-7 mm; mycelium white; conidiogenesis absent; exudate and soluble pigment lacking; reverse colorless. CYA, 37°C, 7 days: colony 5-8 mm, raised, dense, wrinkled, margin fimbriate; mycelium white; conidiogenesis absent; exudate and soluble pigment lacking; reverse greyish orange (5B4-5), pale greyish orange or white. Conidiophores and conidia: conidiophores on MEA borne from subsuperficial or superficial synnemata; stipes thick-walled, (47)70-295 (310) × (5.6)6.3-8.8(9.4) μm; penicilli mostly terverticillate, sometimes quaterverticillate, pentaverticillate or irregular with subterminal metulae or rami concurrent; rami appressed or divergent, in groups of 2-3, with apices or whole cell conspicuously swollen, (10.8)19.2-54.2(60.0) × (7.5)8.3-13.3(15.0) μm; metulae in verticils of 2-6, cylindroidal to clavate, (10.4)12.1-27.5(30) × (5.8)6.7-14.2(12.5) μm; phialides in verticils of 5-12, aggregated, parallel, acerose, (7.5)12.5-25.0(29.2) × (3.3)3.8-6.6(7.1) μm, collula short, abruptly tapering; conidia large, ellipsoidal, occasionally subspheroidal or pyriform, smooth, thick walled, (4.2)5.0-10.0(12.0) × (3.5)4.0-7.1(8.1) μm, borne in discordered chains.
