Description: Growth in YM broth: After 5 days at 25˚C, the cells are ovoidal, ellipsoidal, long ellipsoidal, or elongate, usually single or in pairs, often in chains and in small clusters, (2.5-4.5) × (6-12) μm. Growth on YM agar: After two weeks at 25˚C, the streak culture is orange to reddish orange, smooth, wrinkled or pointed, dull, butyrous and has an entire to undulate margin. Dalmau plate culture on corn meal agar: Primitive pseudomycelium is abundantly produced. Slender true mycelium is often observed. Formation of ballistoconidia: Ballistoconidia are abundantly produced on corn meal agar, short ellipsoidal, kidney-shaped, falcate, (4.0-10.0) × (8.0-18.0) μm.
