 Description: Fructifications sporangiate, crowded and clustered, flesh to flesh-pink. Sporangia sptipitate, long-cylindric, lax and dropping at maturity, up to 10 mm or more in length when fully expanded, 0.7-0.9 mm in diameter. Stalk slender, usually united in clusters, 0.3-0.8 (-1) mm tall. Calyculus funnel-shaped, 0.25-0.45 mm wide, membranous, transparent, plicate, with papilose protuberances on the inside surface, the margins of the cup mouth irregularly toothed. Hypothallus continuous, membranous, and translucent. Capillitium extremely elestic, dropping and quickly breaking away, consisting of threads with 3-4 μm in diameter, the threads marked by cogs, spines, and half rings. Spores flesh to flesh-pink in mass, pale by transmitted light, globose, 6.7-7.5 (-8.0) μm in diameter, marked by clusters of prominent warts scattering on the surface.

 Note: A species cited as a synonym of Arcyria oerstedtii (Lister, 1925), from which Arcyria magna differs in having larger sporangia, smaller spores, funnel-shapped deep calyculus, and in capillitial markings.
