Description: | Ascomata immersed, solitary, globose, 585-764 μm in diam., with a papillate ostiole, with a distinct clypeus. Peridium 18-25 μm wide, composed of 8-15 layers of dark brown, flattened cells, on the otside sometimes with loosely interwoven hyphae mixed with host tissue. Asci arsing from the base e well as from the sides of the centrum, cylindrical, unitunicate, 8-spored, 152-189 × 9-10 μm, with ayloid ring, 4 μm wide and 2 μm high. Paraphyses numerous, hyaline, septatew. Ascospores uniseriate, brown, elliptical, straight or slightly curved, longitudinally striated, surrounded by mucilaginous sheath, 1-septate in the middle, and constricted at the septum, 21-30 × 8-9 μm. | |||

Note: | This species has been reported from West Indies (Sivanesan, 1975) on Saccharum, and in Taiwan on Miscanthus and Arundo (Sivanesan & Hsieh, 1989). Bamboo is a new host for this species. Ascomata in bamboo have no interwoven hyphae surrounded. | |||
