 Description: Apothecia gregarious, minute, without excipulum, formed by asci and paraphyses, 100-250 μm wide, dark brown. Asci 8-spored, broadly clavate to saccate, 88-100 × 24-30 μm. Ascospores globose to subglobose, hyaline to pale brown, without ornamentation, 10-12 μm diam.; 12-14 μm including ornamentation, reticulate. Pararphyses filiform, expanded at tips, 3-6 μm wide.

 Habitat: Coprophilous. On dung of lion, tiger, jaguar, dog, raccoon, rabbit, elk, and giraffe, also isolated from soil.

 Note: This species is distinguished by its globose or subglobose ascospores with a reticulate ornamentation. Ascodemis microscopica also has reticulate ascospores which are, however broadly ellipsoid with an irregular reticulation (Brummelen; 1981).
