Description: Stromata compact, pulvinate to flattened pulvinate, discoid, formed on the infected scale insects, 1.7-1.9 mm in diam., 0.6-1.0 mm height, orange white (5A2) to light brown (5D4-5), more or less tomentose, margin spreading, forming byssoid, fibrillose subiculum, white to greyish orange (5B3). Hyphae thick-walled, 3.2-4.0 μm wide, septate, smooth-walled, occasionally slightly roughened, granulous, concolorus with the stroma. Perithecia produced on the subiculum, scattered, or clustered, elongate flask-shaped or elongate conoid, 480-900 × 220-320 μm, greyish yellow (4B4-5) to yellowish brown (5D-E8), slightly darker at the apex, subtranslucent, usually surrounded by a weft of hyphae, tomentose, rarely almost glabrous, apex obtuse, neck 96-140 μm wide, perithecial wall 26-36 μm wide. Asci 8-spored, cylindrical, capitate, 280-580 × 5.2-6.4 μm, with a perforated refractive cap, 2.4-3.2 μm thick. Ascospores filiform, multiseptate, arranged in parallel rows, hyaline, 1.2-1.6 μm wide, nearly as long as ascus, breaking into partspores. Partspores cylindrical, truncate, 8.0-17.5 × 1.2-1.6 μm.
