 Description: Stromata stipitate, arising singly from the forehead of thorax portion or abdomen of formicine ant host, capitate. Stipe solitary, slender, flexuous, 11-31 mm long, 0.3-0.6 mm thick, rarely branched, light yellow to greyish yellow (4A-B4), or light orange, greyish orange to orange (5A-B4-6), consisting of compact parallel or somewhat interwoven hyphae. Ascogenous head, terminal, broadly ovoid to dome-shaped, 1.5-2.2 mm height, 1.5-2.1 mm wide, lateral irregular rugose due to papillate ostioles, concolorus with the stipe. Perithecia narrowly ovoid to obclavate, 600-860 × 150-250 μm, completely and obliquely embedded in the peripheral pseudoparenchymatous tissue, composed of loosely interwoven hyaline, septate hyphae, 24-56 μm wide, perithecial wall 10-24 μm thick. Asci 8-spored, cylindrical, capitate, 460-600 × 4.8-7.1 μm, with a perforated refractive cap, rounded, elongate, 3.2-5.6 μm thick, 5.3-6.1 μm wide. Ascospores filiform, multiseptate, often disarticulating into one-celled partspores. Partspores fusoid to ellipsoidal, 7.9-10.3 ×1.3-1.6 μm, hyaline, smooth-walled. Conidial state unknown.
