Description: Colony diameters on Czapek’s Agar with 20% added sucrose 5.4-6.0 cm in 2 weeks at 25°C, somewhat floccose; mycelium yellow, light orange-yellow, orange rufous, Sanford’s brown to liver brown (R., Plate II, XIV); cleistothecia abundant, yellow to orange-yellow; soluble pigment pale sudan brown to sudan brown or raw umber (R., Plate III); reverse colorless, dull yellow, raw sienna to argus brown (R., Plate III); conidial heads sparse, radiate to loosely columnar, deep greenish glaucous to American green, or gnaphalium green to slate-olive (R., Plate XLI, XLVII); stipes smooth, 70-1150 × 3.3-22.0 μm. Aspergilla uniseriate, vericles clavate or ellipsoidal, 10.0-38.0 μm in diameter; metulae occasionally septate, covering the entire surface of the vesicle, 6.7-10.0 × 4.8-5.8 μm; phialides 6.7-15.8 × 4.2-5.8 μm; conidia globose to ellipsoidal, thick-walled, spinose to spinulose, 4.7-8.3(9.4) μm in diameter. Cleistothecia globose to ellipsoidal 63-150 μm in diameter; asci globose to subglobose, 8-spored, 10.7-13.5 μm in diameter; ascospores lenticular, 4.1-7.5 × 3.6-5.2 μm, with pronounced furrow and 2 equatorial crests, with convex surfaces roughened. Colony diameters on M40Y 6.8-7.5 cm in 2 weeks at 25°C, floccose; mycelium yellow, Bra-zil red, (R., Plate I); light orange-yellow to deep chrome (R., Plate III) cleistothecia very abundant; conidial heads radiate, light hellebore green to light elm green (R., Plate XVII); reverse capucine yellow to Sanford’s brown or mahogany red (R., Plate III, II); soluble pigment brown.
