Description: | Ascomata 353-707 μm high, 306-840 μm in diameter, embedded in a black stroma, solitary, subglobose to pyriform, immersed or partly immersed, ostiolate, papillate, carbonaceous, thick-walled, black. Necks 63-159 μm high, 56-153 μm wide, periphysate. Pseudoparaphyses filamentous, numerous, persistent. Asci 88-150 × 14-18 μm, eight-spored, cylindrical, short pedunculate, bitunicate, with an ocular chamber at the apex, thick-walled, arising from the base and sides of the venter of ascomata. Ascospores 17.5-28.5 × 8.5-13.5 μm, ellipsoidal to subfusiform, one-septate below the middle, constricted at the septum, hyaline; at first surrounded by a gelatinous sheath that contracts to form a lateral, lentiform, viscous appendage over the septum, 6.5-13.5 μm diameter, 1.0-4.5 μm thick. | |||
