Description: Ascomata compound, multilocular, discoid to pulvinate, superficial, setose, originating from a small immersed hypostroma, 375-625 μm wide, 275-290 μm tall, opening by deliques-cence at the apex. Peridium composed of pseudoparenchymatous cells forming a textura angularis. Setae dark brown, thick-walled, septate, smooth, 60-265 μm long. Hamathecium composed of filamentous, septate, colourless pseudoparaphyses (sensu Eriksson, 1981). Asci obovoid to some what broadly clavate, 8-spored, 150-230 × 35-50 μm, bitunicate with a thin ectotunica and a thick endotunica; endotunica multilayered (appear 3-layered) with a small apical ring, ascus dehiscence fissitunicate. Ascospores at first colourless, 1-septate in the middle or just below the middle, later unequally 3-trans-septate, pale brown to brown, constricted at the midseptum, fusiform, straight to slightly curved, smooth to rarely slightly verrucose, sometimes surrounded by a thin mucilaginous sheath, with smaller end cells and relatively larger central cells, 40-45 (50) × 17-22.5 μm, germinating from one or both end cells.
