The perithecium thick, 55-68 μm wide, composed of polygonal pseudoparenchymatous cells, thick-walled and brown outside, and the cells toward the inside becoming hyaline. Asci basal and lateral, arising from distinctly hymenial layer, bitunicate, clavate, long-stalked, 8-spored, 138-168 × 12-14 μm, pseudoparaphyses septate and branched. Ascospores biseriate in the upper part and uniseriate below, hyaline and one septa at first, later becoming brown and 3-septate, seldom 4-septate, fusoid, with mucilaginous sheath which extend at each end as an append-age, 31-54 × 6-8 μm.
