Description: | Ascomata hysterothecia, single, ovate to elongated, 140-206 μm high, 148-234 μm wide, straight, erumpent, becoming superficial, opening by a sunken longitudinal slit, with a flattened base. Peridium 27-47 μm wide, carbonaceous, composed of several layers of small, dark, black, thick-walled, polygonal pseudoparenchymatous cells, with pale brown hyphae at the base penetrating the outer layer of epidermal cells. Pseudoparaphyses 0.8-1.6 μm wide, branched, hyaline, anastomosing around the ascomatal opening. Asci 84-100 × 18-22 μm, bitunicate, basal, clavate, shortly stipitate, 8-spored. Ascospores 34-43.5 × 4-7 μm, fusoid, straight or lightly curved, hyaline, biseriate in the ascus, phragmosporous, 1-7 septate, constricted at middle primary septum, surrounded by gelatinous sheath. | |||
