 Description: Stromata erumpent through host tissue, widely effuse, up to 3 mm thick, occasionally circumscribing the twig to form a complete ring. The cells of stroma are sclerotioid, the outer cells being polygonal, black above and hyaline below, the inner cells being textura intricata and hyaline. Ascostromata clustered on a stroma, the base occasionally connate to the stroma, ostiolate, globose, 300-450 μm in diam. Perithecia up to 50-75 μm thick at the apex and sides, composed of sclerotioid cells, hyaline inside and becoming dark brown outside. Ascospores fusoid, pale brown, 16-20 × 6-8 μm, 3-4 septate, occasionally with one longitudinal septum in the median cells, uniseriate in the ascus.

 Note: The genus is monotypic but von Arx & Müller (1975) treat it as a synonym of Currey. The asci are somewhat larger in Taiwan specimens.
