 Description: In 1/4YpSs slush: Sporangium spherical or subspherical, variable in size, 15 × 17.5-62.5 × 70μm diam., with a spherical, flattened, fusiform, or broad tubular, 10-20 μm diam., apophysis. Rhizoids much branched, arising from a single axis at the base of apophysis. Zoospores spherical, 5-6.5 μm diam., emerging through a large, 17.5-27.5 μm diam., apical pore formed upon the dehiscence of a convex smooth operculum and collecting at the orifice in a temporarily motionless mass, movement swimming or amoeboid.On 1/4YpSs agar: Color of colony was white.

 Note: The endo-exogenous type of development described by Karling (1936), and regarded by Whiffen (1944) as a modification of Chytrium type. The greatly inflated apophysis is a conspicious character.
