Description: | Growth in glucose-yeast extract-peptone broth: After 3 days at 25°C, the cells are globose, or ellipsoidal (2.2-5.3 × 3.8-6.3 μm), single or in pairs (Fig. 2D). Vegetative reproduction is accomplished by multilateral budding. Sediment is present. Growth on glucose-yeast extract-peptone agar: After 7 days at 25°C, streak cultures are creamy to brownish, butyrous, smooth, and glistening. The margin is entire. Dalmau plate culture on corn meal agar: After 10 days at 25°C, pseudomycelium and mycelium are absent. Formation of ascospores: Ascospores are not formed. | |||
