Description: | Mycelium dense ,. Hyphae slender; 35 μ in diameter at base; rarely branched. Zoosporangia cylindrical, clavate or irregular especially in age culture; renewed internally or cymosely. Gemmae variable in shape, filiform, clavate, obovate, spherical, or irregular; functioning as zoosporangia. Zoospore discharge saprolegnoid; encysted sproe 11 μ in diameter. Oogonia usually abundant at 20℃; terminal ,lateral, or intercalary; spherical ,obovate, napiform and sometimes irregular; 44-122 μ,usually 57-67 μ in diameter. Oogonial wall pitted ; smooth ; oogonial stalks variable in length, 2-4 times the diameter of oogonium; bent, straight, unbranched. Oospheres maturing. Oospore subcentric ; spherical , 12-28 μ, predominantly 22-24 μ in diameter; 2-29 in number, predominantly 6-14. Antheridial branches diclinous , monoclinous androgynous, predominantly diclinous. | |||
