Note: Several species of Cercospora sensu lato were reported worldwide from the host genus Ilex but this fungus is different from others on Ilex spp. in having plainly branched, curved to tortuous conidiophores and coloured obclavate conidia. Cercospora ilicis-opacae Chupp (Chupp, 1954) differs from this fungus by its hyaline acicular conidia.
