 Description: Basidiocarp central, lateral, excentric, stipitate, rarely sessile, corky to woody, dark purple to blackish brown, laccate shiny. Pileus 15 cm diam, 0.3-2 cm thick, suborbicular, orbicular, or reniform; surface of pileus distant concentric, sulcate, multizonate, more or less longitudi-nally rugulose, applanate to centrally depressed; Stipe up to 30 cm in length, 0.8-2.5 cm diam, warty. Context 1.3 cm thick, white thin upper part and blackish brown upper part. Tubes 0.3-1.7 cm long, blackish brown. Cutis hymeniodermiform, elements cylindric to clavate 5.1-6.3 × 35.6-48 µm. Context in the upper part made up of hyaline, binding hyphae, perpendicular to hymenioderm, in the lower part of skeletal hyphae an binding hyphae. Pores orbicular, 4-6 per mm. Basidiospores ovoid to subspherical, with a hyaline papilla at the apex which does not collapse at maturity, brown, 7-8.5 × 11.5-12.5 µm.
