Description: Basidiocarp effuse, adnate, dense-byssoid between aculei, 80-150 μm thick in section (aculei excluded). Hymenial surface Cream Color, Warm Buff, or Ivory Yellow, at first grandinioid, then odontioid-hydnoid, rarely cracked; margin paler, thinning, arachnoid. Aculei rather crowded, 4-7 per mm, subulate with obtuse apices, ceraceous when old, 100-600 (-800) × 100 μm. Hyphal system monomitic; hyphae nodose-septate. Subiculum uniform, composed of medullary layer, with rather loose texture; hyphae somewhat vertical, richly ramified, distinct, 2.5-4.5 μm diam., with 0.4-0.8 μm thick walls. Hymenial layer with rather dense texture. Trama with compactly and vertically arranged hyphae, full of brownish yellow excreted material. Hymenium and subhymenium with IKI brown and CB+ reactions. Cystidia of two kinds: (1) Septocystidia numerous, more concentrated in aculeal areas, scattered elsewhere, projecting, with 0-5 septa, 3-5 μm diam., up to ca. 70 μm long, thin-walled. (2) Lagenocystidia numerous, colorless, 15-30 μm × 3.5 μm, thin- or slightly thick-walled. Basidia subutriform, 14-18 × 4-4.5 μm, 4-sterigmate. Basidiospores subglobose, smooth, thin-walled, with one or more yellowish oil-drops, 4.7-5.3 × 3.9-4.1 μm, IKI-, slightly CB+.
