Description: | Ascostromata epiphyllous, not forming any leaf spot, loosely scattered, orbicular to somewhat irregular, up to 2.5 mm in diam., 150-215 μm high, without innate mycelium or hypostroma. Locule in a complete ring surrounding a sterile center, about 430-700 μm wide, the upper wall disintergrated and gelatinized to exposed the underlying asci. The wall of sterile center two-layered, the outer layer of longitudinal arranged cells, black, 20-43 μm thick, the inner layer of textura intricata to epidermoidea, dark brown, 40-50 μm thick. Basal wall of ascoma beneath the asci, 35-58 μm, composed of longitudinal arranged, brown cells. Asci bitunicate, clavate, 8-spored, 117-146 × 22-24 μm, with paraphysoidal hyphae. Ascospores biseriate, clavate, rounded above and slightly tapering below, 31-45 × 8-10 μm, thick-walled, 1-septate, yellow at first and brown when mature. | |||
